Chelation Therapy, Is It Effective?

By: Joni Bell
Post Date: 2009-03-25

Back in the late 1940's during and after World War II, the U.S. did have the environmental controls that are not in effect to protect the American worker. In those days workers laboring in plants, like an battery plant, had no idea they were exposing themselves to toxic heavy metal.

Years later when some started to lose vision, hearing and a host of other diseases did the medical establishment start to take notice and the government started looking into regulations to protect the workers.

The initial research about how to treat these sick workers came originally from Europe and now know as chelation therapy.

The therapy contained a amino acid called EDTA (ethylenediamine tetra-acetic acid). It was 10-15 years earlier that scientists in Germany had first created EDTA in the laboratory.

What the scientists found out is that EDTA had the ability to attract all kinds of metals, toxins and minerals from the blood. It eliminated these body contaminants thru urine and bowel movement.

Eventually the US Navy started using EDTA with workers and Navy personnel that were exposed to heavy metals on ships. It saved these individuals from either death or a lifelong disability.

We all know what plaque is in our arteries. We see the ads on TV where they show how various drugs will clear out this plaque in our arteries and veins. But those side effects can be horrible and sometimes deadly.

The amino acid in EDTA is a natural substance and has virtually no side effects.

As chelation therapy became more popular, the researchers in analyzing the after effects of chelation noticed that calcium plaque was also removed from the patients. This was a real breakthrough as it is this calcium plaque that clogs up the arteries and causes chest pain (angina) can lead to heart attacks.

Did you know that every human being has about 75,000 miles of arteries, veins, capillaries and microscopic arterioles that pump blood throughout the body. With this cleansing a person can experience...

** No more chest pain caused by angina
** Painful swelling in legs and ankles reduced
** Improve the immune system
** Get back that sexual vigor
** Eyes improve due to better circulation
** Improve brain function - better blood supply to the brain
** Premature aging stops
** The hearing improves
** And the list goes on and on...

Chelation therapy comes in two forms
(1) I.V. chelation therapy
(2) Oral chelation

What's the difference.

IV chelation is much more expensive than oral chelation and with IV chelation the patients may have return to the doctor for a followup treatment every year or so.

Oral chelation takes more time, but the cost is much less. No needles, very minimal side effects and no time spent in the doctors office undergoing IV chelation.

Normal oral chelation does not only include EDTA but also should include many other vitamins and minerals such as: vitamin B complex, vitamin C, alpha lipoic acid, garlic, selenium and bromelain.

Of course, IV chelation therapy is better than having to undergo a heart surgery. Some of the additional drawbacks are that is lowers the electrolyte levels in the body. These electrolytes control muscle control, the body's ability to absorb fluids and many more.

An extreme energy drain has also been experienced and it normally is not covered by any medical insurance.

Look into all your options regarding chelation therapy, it could save your life.
