Making a Boring Photo a Funny One

Believe it or not, you can make just about any image funny if you know how to. Comedians do it all the time with real life situations. They take something simple like their wife doing dishes and make it into a joke that people can relate to. How? They use their wit and clever timing to make the most out of what they are given. You can do the same thing online with photos. Here is a little guide to make you one of the witty ones on the web.

The first thing you have to do is find the right photo. As mentioned earlier, it really could be anything, but perhaps you should pick something that fits the topics of the site that you are going to post on. Some sites have weekly or semi-weekly themes going on, so you might want to choose a photo or video that will abide by the current theme. A quick search engine browse would allow you to find what you are looking for, or it may be something from your personal collection. In any event, make sure that the photo has enough in it to feed off of.

Once you have selected a photo, think of something that makes it stand out from the others in the picture blog. This may be some part of the background or just some clever oddity that makes it fit a theme when it seemingly different. For instance, when you hear the phrase "Made with Bacon", you probably expect to see strange clothes made of bacon or art - something along those lines. If you find a picture of a large woman though, you could play off the idea that her weight was "Made with Bacon". Those little witty concepts are what truly bring the humor home.

The only thing left to do is to come up with a one liner to put at the base of the photo. Most picture blogs allow for captions, so all you have to do is come up with the catchiest phrase you can. It doesn't have to be long, and in fact, sometimes simple is better. Let the photo speak for itself. The caption is just there to give it another dimension. Some pictures do not need them at all though. That is to your discretion. Just use your creativity to the fullest and you might end up with a new hit on the internet.
