Speed Biker Versus Cruiser

By: Sebastian Marders
Post Date: 2008-12-16

Are you a speed bike or cruiser kind of person? The kind of bike one uses, depends on the purpose of the biker. There are as many different styles of riding as there are motorcyclists on the road.

A speed bike can be fondly used by people on the go. What this means from individual to individual does vary. It can encompass everyone from the busy executive who wants to speed through the traffic nightmare of his chosen metropolis in order to make it to the meeting on time, to the adventurous sort who just wants to run Saturday morning errands at a breakneck pace.

Speed bikes, which are by nature built to accelerate harder and attain a high maximum speed are also used for racing. This activity is more for the absolute thrill seeker. It can be a dangerous pastime, but for the adrenaline junkie looking for the ultimate rush, you can't beat it.

On the other hand, a cruiser is especially designed for riding comfortably over long distances. The benefits of this design would become apparent when traveling to far away locals. On extended trips one must rest certain parts of the body like the hands and feet. The feet may be positioned forward on the motorcycle, while the hands are up, the back is only somewhat leaned and the spine is erect. You pay for increased comfort with decreased aerodynamics and less speed. But it is ideal for a joy ride, or a leisurely journey on a long and winding road.

Which style of bike most appeals to you depends on who you are, and what you're after in life. Do you need the thrills to make you feel like you're alive, or are you a more relaxed type who enjoys nothing more than stopping to enjoy your surroundings? Answer these questions and you will have a good idea of what you need in a machine.

But whichever way you go on the matter, remember that accidents do happen. Don't fool yourself into thinking that just because you enjoy taking things slowly that you can be lax about motorcycle safety. Prevention is always the best remedy.

Riding a motorcycle is a wonderful thing that everyone should experience. It is the most convenient, environmentally friendly, and affordable mode of transportation aside from the bicycle. Just be sure to wear the proper attire while enjoying it, no matter what your style is. This should include accessories such as a helmet, long sleeves, and gloves.

Due to so many motorcyclists out there and the age in which we live, there is a wealth of information available on the internet for further reading. Everything from blogs to forums with thriving communities.

These can be so helpful because one may learn from another's experiences, pick up some pieces of advice, updates on legal laws, issues and concerns, trends and fashion in that field and most especially safety tips. Or simply get a little more clarity on what lifestyle best suits you if it's still a tough decision. If you can only have one motorcycle, it better be the right one. But whichever one that is, speed bike or cruiser, just get out there and do it. As long as you ride safely, you'll never regret that you did.
